Partick grabbed a precious 1-0 win at Morton to keep alive their slim hopes of catching St Johnstone in the race for the First Division title.
Morton almost went in front in the 18th minute when Stevie Masterton's free-kick picked out Peter Weatherson but his 12-yard flashing header went just wide.
But the Jags took the lead in the 20th minute when Gary Harkins cleverly laid the ball off for loan star Lucas Akins, who stuck out his right foot and flicked the ball brilliantly into the net from 12 yards.
Morton were unlucky not to grab an equaliser nine minutes later when Masterton's 25-yard curling right-foot free-kick crashed off the base of a post after keeper Jonny Tuffey appeared to leave the shot. The ball spun along the goalline and amazingly past the other post.
Midway through the second half Morton should have levelled twice in the space of a minute. Masterton's corner was turned onto the crossbar by Tuffey and seconds later Allan Jenkins` 20-yard drive was directed wide by Brian Wake in front of goal.
Ten minutes from time Akins should have wrapped up the points when he ran through unchallenged on goal but blasted over with just goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert to beat.
