Ross on target in narrow Caley win
Inverness were pushed all the way by Morton as they laboured to a 1-0 win over their lowly opponents at the Caledonian Stadium.
Caley boss Terry Butcher had warned his side not to underestimate the visitors, who went into the game sitting second bottom.
But despite forcing a couple of half chances, it was Morton who offered the better of the play in the final third.
They went close when Michael Tidser drilled just over the crossbar after the restart, but no breakthrough was forthcoming.
And it was the hosts who were able to score the decisive goal 65 minutes in, Nicholas Ross punishing Morton's inability to clear after Kevin Cuthbert had saved Adam Rooney's close-range shot.
James McAlister nearly snatched an equaliser in the closing stages, however Ryan Esson was equal to the shot as Inverness closed out the win.
