East Stirling picked up their first point since January in a 1-1 draw with Dumbarton but were just four minutes away from claiming an important win in their bid to avoid finishing bottom of the Third Division.
The home team dominated from start to finish and Dumbarton had goalkeeper David Crawford to thank for keeping them in the game.
However, there was nothing Crawford could do in the 10th minute when Michael Bolochoweckyj headed in a Kevin McBride free-kick.
The Shire defender should have added a second goal after 23 minutes but was denied by a brilliant one-handed save from Crawford.
In the second half Shire laid siege to the Dumbarton goal and Craig Donaldson shot wide when well placed after 65 minutes.
With 15 minutes to go they should have wrapped up the points when McBride crossed for Scott Gibb to head goalwards but Crawford was on hand to make his second stunning stop of the night.
With four minutes to go, Dumbarton snatched an equaliser when a speculative ball into the box deflected off substitute David McNaught and into the net.
