Morton became the last team in Scotland to finally chalk up a league win and eased the pressure on boss Davie Irons by moving within two points of Clyde with a 1-0 win.
The Greenock side showed they were up for the relegation dogfight and laid siege to the Clyde goal in the first period with John Brown's side virtually pinned back in their final third of the pitch.
Morton's Stevie Masterton cracked a thunderous free-kick which flew through the defensive wall after four minutes, but Clyde goalkeeper David Hutton clutched the ball low down.
A hatful of chances were spurned by the home side, but Morton got their winner after 37 minutes when veteran James Grady - making his debut after joining on an emergency loan - raced clear and placed his shot beyond goalkeeper Hutton.
Morton should have added a second four minutes from time but Ryan McGuffie volleyed over from 12 yards after a clever knock-down header by defender Dominic Shimmin.
