An impressive first half performance gave Ayr a deserved 3-0 victory over 10-man Arbroath.
The visitors took the lead in the ninth minute when Martin Campbell headed home a Chris Aitken corner.
The lead was doubled three minutes later when Aitken's shot fell to the unmarked William Easton who easily finished in the bottom corner.
The home side were further behind after Bryan Prunty bent a superb lob into the top corner that left Darren Hill with no chance.
The game was effectively over in the 34th minute when Arbroath captain Barry Sellers picked up two yellow cards, the first for throwing the ball at Dean Keenan, the second for dissent to the referee.
