Cowdenbeath moved within one point of leaders Stenhousemuir with a 4-2 win at East Stirlingshire - ending the home team`s 11-match unbeaten run.
The visitors opened the scoring after nine minutes, when Brian Fairbairn profited from a Stirlingshire defensive error, rolling the ball into an empty net on nine minutes.
The home team equalised on 18 minutes when Brian Graham headed home a Craig Donaldson free-kick at the near post but the visitors took the lead again in bizarre circumstances.
Kenny Adamson's speculative shot from 40 yards caught Shire`s trialist keeper unaware and looped into the goal.
A lack of communication between Craig Tully and the trailist keeper on the edge of the Shire box allowed Paul McQuade to nip in for Cowndenbeath`s third, and with three minutes left, Fairbairn scored his second with a fine 20-yard shot.
