Partick fell to their first home defeat since August with a 2-0 reverse against Ross County.
A Sean Higgins double gave the Dingwall side the perfect ending to 2008 and completed a hat-trick of victories over Thistle this season.
Higgins broke the deadlock in the 24th minute after he showed great awareness to lob goalkeeper Jonny Tuffey from 18 yards.
Thistle almost levelled two minutes before the break when Simon Donnelly crossed from the right but Liam Buchanan's header skimmed the top of the crossbar.
County secured all three points six minutes from the end when substitute David Winters put Higgins clear to lift the ball over Tuffey from 15 yards.
Things got from bad to worse for Thistle as they were reduced to 10 men after 72 minutes when Marc Twaddle was sent off for second bookable offence following a late lunge on Adam Strachan.
