Division Three leaders Cowdenbeath moved seven points clear with a vital 2-1 win over Montrose.
The Fifers hero was striker John Gemmell who struck twice in the opening 18 minutes.
He flicked home from a Brian Fairbairn corner in the fourth minute and then met another Fairbairn set-piece to power a header past Tony Bullock.
But Montrose pulled one goal back in the 27th minute through coach Jamie McKenzie, who was playing as a trialist. His 25-yard free-kick took a wicked deflection to wrong-foot keeper David Hay.
Montrose came close to snatching a draw in the last minute with a header from Gordon Pope which struck the post but it wasn't to be and Cowdenbeath claimed all three points.
